Tim founded Home Inspection Geeks in 2016. After working as a mechanical engineer in the power and gas industries for 8 plus years to start his professional life, Tim desired a new career where he could make more of a direct impact for the client. He always had a fascination with home design and construction and decided to get his Home Inspection License to feed into that passion. Tim started Home Inspection Geeks with the belief that he could make the inspection process better for his clients and that a safe and reliable home is an essential foundation for adults and children alike to live their best lives. Along with his Inspection License, he also holds a Profession Engineering License and is certified by InterNACHI. Tim lives with his wife (Dawn) and two boys (Jake and Chase) in the Logan Square Area of Chicago. He is a passionate Cubs fan and sports fan in general. Tim also enjoys being out in nature, doing handyman projects around his home, and listening to audiobooks whenever he gets the opportunity.
Evan’s interest in homes started early, growing up in a historic district and working with his dad, a contractor, on remodeling and restoration projects. After getting a degree in history (and a couple of dead languages) he decided to make use of his interest in homes and knowledge of building science by pursuing his Home Inspection License. He loves helping clients understand the ins and outs of how their new homes work and making sense of the features, problems, and quirks you find along the way (especially in Chicago’s older homes!) He is currently rehabbing an 1887 Victorian home in Chicago’s Kenwood neighborhood. When he’s not tackling a house project, Evan can usually be found on the Lakefront bike path, geeking out on a Chicago architecture tour, or sailing his boat on lake Michigan.
